I recently learned that the harsh chemicals in shampoo can lead to hair loss. I want to find a good herbal shampoo with only natural ingredients that could possibly help with thinning hair. I want to avoid shampoo with chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Methylparaben (which are in almost every shampoo). If you don’t know a good one for hair regrowth than any good all natural shampoo is fine. I heard Burt’s Bees make some good ones.

I suffer from heriditary hair loss. I had been using rogaine which was actually going well but now I am pregnant and can no longer use it. My new hair is almost all gone and I’m getting very anxious. Does anyone know any kind of natural or herbal remedies I can use until after my pregnancy?

I have had very good results using Nioxin . Get the shampoo, scalp conditioner, and foam. I use it everyday (for almost 2yrs} and it has helped my hereditary hair thinning. I am no longer trying to cover scalp showing! I have heard you need to continue to use it or the effects won’t continue but it is just part of a usual routine so that’s not difficult. It is not inexpensive, but not crazy expensive either. It is fairly available at salons or your hairdresser can get it. {I think I even saw it at the Walmart beauty salon in passing} I got mine as a gift and I am grateful everyday. I naturally have very thick hair but since 3 or more months, when I comb my hand through my hair, about 5 to 10 hairs end up on my hand. Sometimes when I wake up there is a little bundle of it on the pillow.

Is this normal?

I live in Singapore, where the Humidity is often 80 to 100%. Can this be the cause? Yet, I have been in Germany for vacation since the end of June, but I still experience the same amount of hair loss.
I have been using anti-hair loss shampoo since the beginning of May. I started off with the typical Head and Shoulders, but since June I have moved on to a very expensive herbal type. Sadly, this hasn’t changed a single thing, except for my hair being more dry than usual.
I used to have dandruff but that was about a year ago.

I have the exact same thing and noticed you also have really thick hair.
I have VERY thick hair naturally, from genes. When I wash my hair or brush it, a lot of hair comes out. This is because you have a lot, so its normal for people with a lot of hair. I don’t think you need to use expensive anti-hair loss shampoos. Just use normal shampoo thats good for your hair.

But if you really don’t like it, get a haircut! I got a haircut that made my hair SO much thinner and lighter and I haven’t lost any (noticeable) hairs.

i bought the shampoo & conditioner herbal essence long term relationship, because i have very long thick hair, its really dull too.im trying to get that glossy look and silky feeling, which i was told this shampoo would give me. so i convinced my mom to get them for me ($3.25 each) and i havent used them yet because i heard herbal essence makes your hair fall out:/ is this true? im scared to use it but im scared to tell my mom i dont want to.will it really make my hair fall out?

I’ve never heard and that and I’ve used their shampoo. But I think this is common with all hair products. Not everything is right for you that might be fine for a friend or your mother. I mean no matter what product you use – your hair is going to fall out when you wash it. Some might cause this to happen more than others, but your reactions to certain shampoos or chemicals vary from others.

I am 14 years old, a girl, and have (or had) medium/long length black hair that was very thick and strong until maybe 6 months ago. I started using herbal essences shampoo again (i had used it a couple years ago as well) and my hair looked fine, but lots of strands would fall out in the shower.
I didnt think much of it at first, but then one day my mom pointed out that it looked like I had lost about half of my hair. I immediately threw out the herbal essences shampoo and went out to buy a more gentle one, which is now biosilk shampoo.

the biosilk made a very small difference from tthe herbal essences, but it did make a difference. It did cause a little bit of less hair loss, but not much :/

My hair is still very thick, and the hair that I have seems quite healthy, but there is a lotttt less than before. I used to have a lot of hair, so even though i lost about 1/2 to 3/4 of my hair, there is still enough so that it looks okay… i am just worried that I will continue to lose hair…
I have wavy/straight hair and am indian if that makes a difference in hair type…

Also, I dont have like patches of hair loss or anything, so its not like that scalp condition where hair is lostin patches…
