Can folic acid be the reason for hair loss?

I have been suffering from serious hair loss for the past few days. Since we are ttc, i have been taking folic acid for last 2 months
I have not used bc pill as contraceptive. So any other reason for hair loss?

No, but stopping the pill is. For around 3 months after you stop taking bc your hair falls out- it shortens the ‘hair life’ hence you tend to lose a lot of hair.

Type in ‘hair loss’ and ‘birth control pill’ in a search engine and read all about it.

Edit: um, I know it can be a symptoms of diabetes. Also, if you suffered stress 6 months ago, your hair falling out can be a result of that. It takes 6 months to occur though. Any extreme stress then?

Also, is the hair falling out in clumps or evenly throughout?

How to stop hair loss and stimulate regrowth?

I have a huge forehead. I’m using Minoxidil, but doesn’t seem to be working very well, kind of make hair loss go slower, but I’m still losing my hair. If there’s nothing to do, I’ve heard of surgeries where they put new hair. How does that work? After you have the surgery, does hair grow (is is alive?)? Or is it just fake and dead hair you cannot cut? THANKS

I have found some good tips in following link, It may be good for you too

Can you help me with my hair loss?!?!?!?

OMG!!

Ok, my hair has been falling out at the root for about two months now. I went to the doc and he said my scalp is healthy, so he doesn’t know what it is, could be stress, poor nutrition, a bad dye job, or from a traumatic event (so the doc was pretty much useless)

I have been taking multivitamins, biotin, hair skin and nails vitamins and shen min for like 6 weeks now and its still falling out!! I am using a good shampoo and conditioner too.

And I’m a 21 yr old male and family members don’t have hair loss, so its not hereditary. And its not alopecia…

HELP! :’(

year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also he used herbal treatment – TrichoZed and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine – it will not work!)

Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed and Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

Does any other women have diffuse hairloss and have been diagnosed with AA or AGA?

Hi I am a 26 yr old female. Diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia and Alopecia Areata. I have tested positive for ANA and some other RA blood work. Have had history of borderline hyperthyroid. Is anyone experiencing DIFFUSE hairloss. What have you been using as far as meds? OTC? Or do you have any more info. Thank you

Prolonged intermittent hair loss, in 20 year old Indian guy…?

I’m an Indian guy, aged 20, have been having hair-loss for the past 1.5 years, though off & on. In the past 3 months, my hair density has been at its worst.
The treatment I was using was an Ayurvedic hair oil, with natural shampoo (more like powdered herbs that make a paste used for hair-wash)

Presently, i’m close to giving up the battle, even though I’m oiling my scalp every night. The hair strands that fall out either have no root (which makes me think that it’s breakage). But on closer observation, one discovers that the follicles are very small, half the size of what they used to be.
More over, I’m also witnessing hair loss from every other part of the body.

Any opinions on the same? Suggestions?

anyway as we know – hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

hair loss on the cheek/beard. Alopecia. started as a small spot and now its HUGE? will it go away or get worse

Hi there, My BF noticed a small spot on the side of his beard a year ago where no hair grew. Gradually the spot got bigger and more spots appeared. Now he has a huge patch-atleast 4×5 inches-where there is no hair growing. It is terrible because its really obvious and we dont know if it will get better or worse. We are pessimistic because its just been getting worse…but atleast it has stuck to the beard. You can see tiny little white hairs on the patchy area but it basically looks hairless. Shaving doesnt help much either since he has thick hair and its still obvious. Has anyone experience alopecia of the beard and has it improved? we are very worried and i know my bf is getting depressed because of it.
He went to a doctor a few months ago and they said it was alopecia. but nothing else. basically you have to wait and see or something. but the unknown is really scary.

Unfortunately you GP is right, there are no treatments than affect alopecia and its course is unpredictable. It is one of the conditions where the body makes antibodies against itself. All of these ‘ auto-immune ‘ diseases are poorly understood.

As usual when there is a condition where conventional medicine is weak, there is no shortage of charlatans ready to rip off the desperate, the well meaning homeopaths and herbalists and the genuine crooks.

Type alopecia cure into google and find 1.2 million sites, pretty good for a condition with no cure!

Hairloss anyone?

Hi, anyone got any good tips for reducing hairloss. theres lots of sites around but sometimes they suggest buying things that seem a waste of money instead of actual info and cures.
Iv seen some good ideas at www.hairlossreviewworld.com, has anyone else tried things such as emu oil or egg potions and had much luck? cheers

It’s the age-old battle! My husband started with hair-loss in high school – it was more that traumatizing for him. Little by little the receding hairline went back more and more and then the top of his head began to shine through in his early twenties. He tried every shampoo – ointment – concoction – and supposed "remedy" – everything short of hair-plugs/implants to no avail. For the most part hair-loss is genetic – just like your stature (you can’t make yourself shorter or taller either!) – you are what you are! He finally conceded and learned to live with it. Everyone loves him for who he is – and not what’s on his head (or not on his head LOL!)

Does DEEMARK herbal hair oil work?

My brother-in-law is experiencing hair-loss for sometime. He has seen this oil advertised on the shopping network, boasting regrowth, strength and shine of hair. He wants me to ship him some. Though I am suspicious of such heavily advertised products, I am asking for his sake. Has anyone used this and got noticeable results?

I’m going through premature hair loss (17 years old) are these the reasons why?

THe only things i have been on in the past year is:
creatine (from novemeber to december)
quickmass (high protein supplement (novemeber – january)
and accutane (february – now)
AND i have also been eating a lot of meals (healthy, however) to have a large protein intake everyday.

I know accutane may cause hair loss but i have been noticing the hair loss january (before i started accutane).

I also have been told that creatine or high consumption of protein may also result in hair loss!

Look at your uncles and dad it’s probably hereditary. Why are you taking all that junk for anyway? It sounds like you are treating yourself
for some reason dumb reason?

35 male thinning at the top. will short hair or long hair slow-down my hair loss?

why?

Don’t think it’s going to make a difference.
This NATURAL, safe remedy is the ONLY ONE I’ve found that truly stops loss almost straight away and also forces new growth. Massage thoroughly with olive or any natural oil – then brush vigorously using a palm held brush with short natural boar bristles – soft bristled for fine straight hair and stiff bristled for thicker non straight hair- so you really feel it stimulating scalp – 90 /100 strokes at beginning building up to more – each day, focusing on where loss is. Will heal scalp and unplug blocked hair ducts that sometimes cause loss – they are the painful small itching spots. A little shedding and breakage may occur at first but quickly stops as brushing makes hair stronger and better anchored. It will grow fast, thicker and It will force the new growth. Initially new hairs will be weak looking and sparse. Don’t be concerned if brushing uproots them as they will re-appear even stronger. My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth was slower and sparse at first then each month it became denser. It demands perseverance week in, week out to get the same results.
Thinning and loss can be caused by many shampoos – particularly anti dandruff ones – and hair products that contain countless hair, scalp and even health harming harsh and toxic ingredients Washing hair too frequently is another cause – removes beneficial natural oils and contributes to loss. Find "Non harmful shampoos, etc" with Google searches. Some will come up and be expensive or only available on-line so refine search by adding "low cost" and "available in stores" Find in GNC ,Trader Joes, Some Walmart Stores, Cost Plus, Wegmans, Earth Fare, natural & health foods stores. I Have had feed back from someone who has had even more success using treatment. His has substantially regrown in just 6 months.
Wish you the best.
